vertebrae screen

................... ...................

Modernica Vertebrae

Richard Harvey looked to the human anatomy when he designed the Vertebrae wall- or ceiling-mounted screen. Each section, or "vertebra," is made from super-lightweight injection-molded plastic; the individual sections are then assembled on a wood base in custom sizes for any space. 7366 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036; 323-933-0383; modernica.net.

tattooed

Ink is not only skin deep. A digitally tattooed wooden body.
In its design, the table is treated as a living body, receiving its character from
a unique tattoo printed on its surface.

The wood texture acts as skin, becoming a platform for expressing a strong
cultural and personal identity.

The digital printing technology enables to easily treat each table individually,
making them unique - just like people.

uber chic

Baleri Italia
Other

With the Other, 1930's deco meets 1960's mod. Serigraphed blue lines zigzag over the mirrored surface of the 50-inch-high piece, and woolen pom-poms dangle from a key in the top drawer. Coffee and side tables, a cabinet, and a mirror complete the collection. 8 Via Felice Cavallotti, 20122 Milan, Italy; 39-02-7602-3954;

Design by Us

Opulence is the order of the day at Design by Us, thanks to the MDF Variety cabinet's 1960's flower-power chic—mixed with a splash of Goth. The milled-out doors' happy daisy pattern echoes in a lining that combines vintage Technicolor wallpaper with painted siding. Perched on castors, the piece measures 70 3/4 inches high, and it's 59 inches wide by 19 1/2 deep. 43 Rentemestervej, 2400 Copenhagen NV, Denmark; 45-38-11-80-86; design-by-us.com.

high on hayon

“My idea was to create a modular system that responds to the functionality of the living room. Shown here are four units side by side, but they can also be stacked on top of one another up to three units high.”“At the beginning I really believed in the cleanness of having four legs on a long piece of furniture. But as more and more legs were required to support the stacking units, I finally just said, “Let’s use them all!” The dozen different legs are also configurable; they screw in and out of the bottom of the cabinet. It’s really random, which I like. It leaves space for the imagination of the user.” JAIME HAYON www.hayonstudio.com
